What if professional development felt more like a great conversation with smart, caring colleagues? These live Zoom offerings with Beka and Jen invite educators to grab a cup of coffee, bring their questions, and learn together in ways that are engaging, relevant, and immediately useful. Come for the ideas, stay for the community.
Professional Learning Book Club
Hunt, Gather, Parent
Facilitators: Jen and Beka
Format: Live Zoom sessions
Dates: January 9, January 23, and February 6, 2026
Time: 1:30 to 2:30 PM
Grab your favorite warm drink and join Beka and Jen for a lively, conversation-based professional learning book club designed for educators who enjoy thinking deeply, sharing openly, and learning together.
Using Hunt, Gather, Parent by Michaeleen Doucleff, we will explore how Maya, Inuit, and Hadzabe families nurture confident, cooperative kids and what these cultural perspectives can teach us about child development, relationships, and everyday educational practice. Expect thoughtful discussion, practical takeaways, and plenty of “aha” moments you can bring back to your classroom or family work.
This book club is a great fit for early childhood and elementary educators, ECFE and parent educators, instructional coaches, and administrators who value reflective, relationship-centered professional development.
You do not need to have all the reading done to participate. Come curious, join the conversation, and enjoy learning alongside colleagues.
